Payment failures and subscription status
What the different subscription statuses mean and what happens when a payment fails.
Your subscription can be in one of five states, visible in Admin → Billing:
- Trialing: your workspace is in the free trial period.
- Active: your subscription is paid and current.
- Past Due: a payment attempt has failed. The subscription remains active while retries are pending.
- Cancelled: the subscription was cancelled and has ended. The workspace is on the Free tier.
- Paused: billing is paused (typically at your request via support).
What happens when a payment fails
When a card charge fails, Stripe automatically retries the payment over the following days. During this period your workspace remains active (Past Due status). If all retries fail, the subscription is cancelled and the workspace moves to the Free tier.
Resolving a failed payment
- 1Go to Admin → Billing.
- 2Click Update payment method and enter a valid card.
- 3Once updated, the outstanding invoice is retried automatically.
If your workspace moves to the Free tier due to non-payment, AI features, integrations, and recognition tools are disabled. All historical data and configurations are preserved and restored immediately when a valid payment is made.
