Assigning roles and designations

All available designations, what they unlock, and how to assign multiple roles.

Formal designations unlock platform areas. They can be combined, but not every access pattern is a designation.

Available designations

CHIEF_OF_STAFF: COS dashboard, summaries editor, Standup AI, org-wide report visibility.
CEO: CEO dashboard, company structure, and published executive summaries.
ADMIN: full platform administration: users, org, settings, audit, snapshots.

Structural access

Staff access is the default for users without a special designation.
Manager access comes from the manager field on user records.
Head of Office access comes from the office record.

Multiple designations

A user can hold multiple formal designations simultaneously. A Chief of Staff who also manages a sub-team receives COS capabilities from the designation and manager capabilities from the org chart.

Change designations at Admin → Roles or directly from a user's profile in Admin → Users.
